This Saturday, the Friends of Ely Cemetery should have celebrated a day of family fun and fascinating history at their cemetery open day. Unfortunately, the extraordinary times in which we are all now living have meant that this, along with so many other events across the country, has had to be put on hold. However, we at the Friends of Ely Cemetery have not been idle and lots of work is still going on behind the scenes. Some of our members have been able to visit the cemetery, safely distanced, to work on projects we had planned before the lockdown. Our wildlife project is progressing apace and our tiny cemetery residents should benefit from our new hedgehog boxes and insect houses. Have a look at our Wildlife section to see more images as well as some lovely photos of the Spring flowers.
Our resident biographer Chris Phillips has also been hard at work and several new mini biographies of Ely residents past are now available to view on our website. Finally, do follow us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to keep up with all our news and photographs from the cemetery.
