Lots of records survive which can help those who believe their ancestors who might be buried in Ely Cemetery, including:
- Old Burial Records - FoEC volunteers are currently in the process of digitising the old burial records held at the City of Ely Council offices. This is nearing completion and we hope to be able to put the results online soon.
- Memorial Inscriptions Database - Back in 2003, some local enthusiasts transcribed and photographed all the inscriptions on the headstones within the cemetery. At the moment, this material is not very accessible, held in separate spreadsheets and CDs. However, we would love to reunite the images and the transcriptions and make the whole database available to search. If anyone would like to volunteer to help with this project, please let us know!
In addition, we are keen to research those who are laid to rest in our cemetery and we will be updating the website regularly with mini-biographies of Ely residents past.
